Nevada SPCA Animal Rescue: But I thought I was your baby too.

Nevada SPCA Animal Rescue: But I thought I was your baby too.: Vicki needs a lot of comforting and reassurance.  She feels loss, despair, and confusion wondering why she lost her previous home when the family had a baby. Vicki is an earnest, young, 35-pound sweetheart, a brindle Heinz 57 with Bully, spayed girl, 2 years of age, available for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Adopt Vicki and she will give you her whole heart and unconditional devotion.

Nevada SPCA Animal Rescue: Why doesn't anyone want me?

Nevada SPCA Animal Rescue: Why doesn't anyone want me?:   Bandit has watched thousands of dogs of all ages, sizes, and temperaments get adopted while he is overlooked.  But he remains cheerful and hopeful, and thanks to volunteers and staff, he continues a remarkable recovery from abuse (though he is still anxious if grabbed on his neck).

Bandit is a medium-size Shepherd mix, about 5 years of age, neutered boy, housetrained, crate-trained, good with most dogs, and available for adoption at Nevada SPCA.

Special thanks to Pet'ographique for this handsome portrait to help him find a loving, forever home.

Fire Hoop Dancing

I took this video last Saturday night on the Colorado River south of Boulder City/Las Vegas. It was supposed to be a sort of Burning Man Decompression. Beautiful night, amazing people... Fire poi, fire hula hoops, fire dancing, boats, dj's, sound systems, several stages... all out in the middle of the desert... Flawless!.... that is, until the park rangers came barrelling in and broke it up forcing us all to leave :(  Still was fun up until then :)

A mobile app worth checking out....

Just downloaded but haven't tried out yet. Says it's a quick way to report speed traps/check points/areas often patrolled/road damage/accidents/etc. to other users. This link is for the Android Market. I will update when I use the app.

Explanation: Is there any place in the world you could see a sight like this? Yes! This digital mosaic shows the night sky as seen from False Kiva in Canyonlands National Park, eastern Utah, USA. Diving into the Earth far in the distance is part of the central band of ourMilky Way GalaxyMuch closer, the planet Jupiter is visible as the bright point just to band's left. Closer still are the park's picturesquebuttes and mesas lit by a crescent moon. In the foreground is the cave housing a stone circle of unknown origin named False KivaThe cave itself was briefly lit by flashlight during the exposure. Astrophotographer Wally Pacholka reports that getting to the cave was no easy trekAlso, mountain lions were a concern while waiting alone in the dark to record the mosaic.

Tomorrow's picture: planets ahoy
